Iconography

In the user interface of Confluence Whiteboards, there's a central menu located at the bottom. When I joined the team, this menu had only four functions. However, over the past year, we've expanded our offerings significantly, necessitating a scalable approach to represent these new features in the menu. To address this, I designed nine distinctive outlined icons for our core menu. These icons encompass various functions, including links, stamps, importing from Jira, timers, templates, and connectors.

In addition to feature development, I also created iconography for styling options. For instance, this involved designing icons for shapes and connectors/lines, which are integrated into the floating toolbars of the respective features. These icons empower users to easily switch between styles or, in the case of the shapes feature, select different shape types.

The creation of the icon themselves were done on Illustrator, as it allowed for the perfect vector manipulation, and to ensure the SVG’s exported and scaled without janky-ness. The tool allows you to simplify and outline the stroke. Creating a more compressed but high-quality icon.
